What is a predictive dialer

A pacing engine for outbound calling.

A predictive dialer places multiple calls in parallel for every available agent. Instead of waiting for an agent to finish a call before dialing the next number, the system continuously measures live campaign data — answer rate, average talk time, abandoned-call rate, active agent count — and dials ahead of time. When a connected human picks up, the call is routed to the next free agent at the moment they become available.

The result is more time on live calls and less time waiting through dial tones, voicemail greetings and dead air. On a working floor, the difference between a well-built predictive dialer and a basic auto dialer is measured in hours of recovered selling time per agent per day, not features on a brochure.

Done badly, a predictive dialer abandons calls, burns Truecaller reputation and lands the entire number pool on a spam list inside a week. Done well, it keeps agents on live calls for the majority of every working hour. The difference lives in the math behind the pacing — and the depth of integration between the dialer, the voicemail filter and the number-rotation engine.

How it works

Pacing, filtering and rotation in one loop.

Hitrate's predictive dialer is built around three engines that all run on the same audio path:

Adaptive pacing

The pacing model recalculates the parallel-call ratio every cycle, weighted by recent answer rate, talk time and agent count. Abandoned-call rates stay inside local regulation while live-talk time stays at the top of the agent's hour.

Voicemail filter

Voicemail greetings, IVR menus, ringback tones and dead air are detected and dropped before the agent's audio path opens. The filter achieves a 99.7% live-voice rate, measured across millions of outbound dials — so when the agent says hello, a real human says hello back.

Call Pattern rotation

Outbound caller-ID rotates across a pool of numbers. When Truecaller, spam screens or carrier-level reputation flag a specific number, the system rebalances the pool automatically — recovering up to 8% extra reachability on lists that other systems can't connect.

Better pacing improves the data the filter trains on. Better filtering keeps agents live longer. Better number reputation means more answers reach the filter. The three loops feed each other on every call.

Predictive vs other dialer types

Where predictive dialing fits.

"Auto dialer" is an umbrella term. Inside it sit several different ways of automating outbound calling, ranked by throughput and parallelism:

Preview dialer

The agent inspects the lead, then clicks to dial. One call at a time. Highest control, lowest throughput. Right for high-touch B2B with research-heavy openers — wrong for any high-volume calling.

Progressive / power dialer

The system dials the next number the instant the agent finishes a call. Still 1:1 with the agent. Removes manual dialing latency, but the agent still waits through every voicemail, ringback and disconnect.

Predictive dialer

The system dials many numbers per agent in parallel. Pacing math decides how aggressively to dial based on live answer rate, talk time and agent count. Voicemail filtering and number rotation strip the dead air. This is the architecture designed to keep live-talk time at the top of the working hour.

Hitrate runs in both progressive and predictive modes. Small teams start in progressive and the engine switches to predictive automatically as more agents come online. There is no separate "predictive product" to unlock.

Compliance and reachability

Legal in every Nordic and EU market.

Predictive dialing is legal across the EU and the Nordics when operated inside local rules around consent, calling hours, suppression lists and abandoned-call rates. Hitrate is hosted entirely inside the EU, ships with a GDPR-compliant DPA, and pre-configures the controls operations teams need to stay within local regulation in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland.

Reachability is the other half of the conversation. Industry-wide, contact-list answer rates have been declining for years — driven by Truecaller, on-device spam screening and carrier-level reputation. Hitrate's number rotation is built directly against that decline. When a number gets flagged, the system rebalances the pool automatically, so the contact list keeps connecting instead of going cold.

Buyer questions

Six we get every demo.

What is a predictive dialer?
An outbound calling system that places multiple calls in parallel for every agent and only routes a connected live voice to the headset. Pacing math estimates how soon the next agent will be free and dials ahead of time, so live answers arrive the moment an agent is available.
How is it different from an auto or power dialer?
Auto and power dialers dial one number at a time per agent. A predictive dialer dials many in parallel and uses live campaign statistics — answer rate, talk time, voicemail rate — to predict when an agent will be ready. Done well, it keeps agents on live calls for the majority of every working hour.
How accurate is the voicemail filter?
99.7% live-voice rate, measured across millions of outbound dials. Voicemail greetings, IVR menus and dead air are filtered in the audio path before the headset opens.
Is predictive dialing legal in the EU and Nordics?
Yes, when used inside local rules around consent, calling hours, suppression lists and abandoned-call rates. Hitrate is GDPR compliant, hosted in the EU and ships with the controls operations teams need to stay within local regulation.
Can it integrate with my CRM?
Hitrate ships with its own CRM, voice, e-sign and booking — so there's nothing to integrate on day one. For teams already running another CRM, Hitrate exposes an open API for two-way sync of leads, dispositions, recordings and outcomes.
How fast can a team go live?
Most teams are fully operational within hours. Migration runs in a live channel of choice, contacts and dispositions import in bulk, and the platform is benchmarked against the customer's existing data before any commitment.
